RUMOUR CONFIRMED: The VAFA A-Grade Best and Fairest count hit a snag when three votes were awarded to the wrong man.

The Rumour File heard on Thursday that umpires awarded three votes in a Round 16 match to a player who plays in a different division, St Bernards player Owen McIntyre.

Trouble is, McIntyre wears the same number as Seniors teammate Adam Bentick – who was leading the Woodrow Medal vote count at that stage.

The count was held up for 45 minutes while VAFA officials rang the umpires of the match to confirm whether or not Bentick was the intended recipient of the votes.

While he wasn’t the vote-getter on that occasion, ultimately, Bentick won the Medal in a tie with Uni Blues’ Ross Young.
