Police were bracing for a youth brawl at Glen Waverley on Friday afternoon, however, it’s unclear whether it ever eventuated.

Police confirmed with 3AW Breakfast they were aware of reports two rival groups of youths were intending to clash again following an incident on Monday afternoon.

‘A police operation will be in place to ensure that public order is maintained,’ police spokeswoman Natalie Webster said.

The Rumour File reported an elite private school in the area had recommended students ‘avoid the area’ in a statement sent to all parents.

Wesley College Glen Waverley Head of Campus Peter Dickinson said in the memo that they’d ‘received advice that the police fear that a follow-up incident may be planned for Friday after school.’

‘Some of our students may hear about it via social media.

‘We know that some of our students often head down to Glen Waverley on Friday afternoon and we are therefore recommending that all students avoid the areas in the vicinity of the Kingsway, the Glen Waverley library, Bogong  Avenue or the various fast food outlets in Springvale Road and surrounds after school on Friday.’
