RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMED

A Victorian prison went into lockdown for around four hours over the weekend.

‘Orange Is The New Blackout’ told Ross and John’s Rumour File that there was a power outage at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in Ravenhall, which prompted some security cameras to stop working.

Guards at the women’s prison promptly put all inmates behind lock and key.

Corrections Victoria spokesperson Michael Gleeson confirmed the prison went into lockdown between 8am and noon on Saturday.

“A few security cameras were impacted and weren’t working,” he said.

“This is standard practice, the prison is placed into lockdown when there is an outage.

“The women were locked away in their cells.

“The outage was caused by a faulty switch.”
