RUMOUR CONFIRMED

Melbourne is upping the ante against Sydney in sky-high thrills with a tourist walk planned for above the MCG set to rival the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s.

Those who dare will be able to take in breathtaking views of the iconic ground and the city from about 70 metres up.

The plan was first heard on The Rumour File back in December last year.

The total cost of the project is expected to reach nearly $3 million, part of which will come from the federal government.

Construction is expected to start this year, and take about 12 months.

The final design is yet to be worked out, but one idea includes a zip-line (flying fox) which would fly people from the city-end scoreboard to the other side of the stadium.

Sports Minister John Eren confirmed the rumour on 3AW breakfast this morning, and sent us photos he took from on top of the MCG yesterday.
