RUMOUR FILE: Police have confirmed they’re investigating after four cars were stolen during an aggravated burglary on Friday morning.

3AW Breakfast revealed on Monday the cars belonged to Essendon footballers.

Those players were Conor McKenna, Shaun McKernan, Jayden Laverde and James Ferry.

‘This was obviously quite a frightening experience for the players involved,’ Essendon’s ?General Manager of Football, Rob Kerr, said.

‘We are extremely thankful the players were not harmed, and we have offered them the appropriate avenues of support.

‘We would like to thank Victoria Police for their prompt response and follow up.

‘The players are keen to put this unfortunate incident behind them, so we ask the media to please respect their privacy.’

Police have been told their Maribyrnong home was broken into just after 4am on Friday.

Once inside, the offenders took wallets and the keys to four different vehicles.

The group then drove off in all four cars.

One of the residents woke up after hearing one of the vehicles, a Volkswagen, crash nearby and saw a man getting into another vehicle.

It’s believed the offenders arrived at the property in a stolen Toyota Camry, which has since been recovered dumped in Maribyrnong.

Three teenage boys, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were arrested in Wyndham Vale and charged with the theft of the one of the cars.

They were remanded in custody to face a childrens court on Monday.

The investigation into the aggravated burglary remains ongoing.

The offenders for the aggravated burglary have been described to police as male, with one possibly having a dark complexion.
