RUMOUR FILE: Sports stores across Melbourne’s west are reportedly selling out of baseball bats as scared residents arm themselves.

It follows the recent spate of violent home invasions across Melbourne.

‘Home Run’ told The Rumour File one leading sports store had completely run out of bats.

‘And it ain’t because of an influx of baseball players,’ he said.

3AW Breakfast was then flooded with calls from others saying they had begun to arm themselves with things ranging from spear guns, hair spray and golf clubs.

Police continue to urge people not to take the law into their own hands.
