Rumour File: Santa sabotage on The Strand, Newport

Christmas grinches have struck in Newport where a popular annual display has been sabotaged.

Vandals climbed onto Colin Drake’s balcony on The Strand and deflated giant blow-up Santas on Friday night.

The biggest Santa – six metres tall – is completely gone.

‘We thought it was some kids having a wild time … but we’re sure it would’ve been back by now if it was just a joke,’ Mr Drake told Justin and Kate.

‘A couple of nights before my wife saw a couple of shady looking people in a beat-up car.’

Another resident in the area told 3AW Breakfast her 16 candy canes and Santa sign stolen.
