RUMOUR FILE UPDATE: Bridie O’Reilly’s in Brunswick will serve its final drinks on April 2.

However, it’s not ALL bad news for Melbourne’s pub lovers.

The Rumour File revealed on Monday the pub – formerly known as the Sarah Sands Hotel – was shutting after more than 150 years after being sold to developers.

There were fears it would be turned into apartments.

However, Joseph Chahin, from Peregrine Projects, told 3AW Breakfast that wouldn’t be the case.

It’s being restored as the Sarah Sands Hotel.

‘Sarah’s coming back,’ Mr Chahin told Justin and John.

‘It will probably take us a couple of years.’
