Rumour File: Victorian dentists to stop work over pay and waiting lists
RUMOUR FILE CONFIRMED
Victorian dentists will walk off the job tomorrow as part of industrial action over pay and waiting lists.
Public dentists, whose EBA expired 12 months ago, say they are paid 40 per cent less than their public colleagues around Australia.
But Matthew Hopcraft, the Victorian boss of the Australian Dental Association, said their strike action was about more than wanting a better deal from the state government.
“Victorian patients are waiting on average 19 months for public dental care in Victoria and this has gone up 67 per cent in the past three year,” he told Ross and John.
“So this is not really so much about the dentists, it’s about the patients … who are being forced to wait way too long for care.”
