‘Sad to see them go’: City commuters wave goodbye to Flinders St Station kiosks
The closure of four of the five Flinders Street Station fast food kiosks signals the end of an era for fast-food loving city commuters.
It’s reported today the kiosks will close as the Melbourne icon receives a makeover.
3AW Breakfast producer Mikkayla Mossop crossed to Justin and Kate from the station.
“Unfortunately the kiosk at platform one is the only remaining, they are all gone,” she said.
Manny, a kiosk worker at platform one, has been operating the kiosk for two years and said he wasn’t sure why they were closing.
“It’s pretty sad to see them go,” he said.
In a statement, Public Transport Victoria said the station is the busiest in Victoria but didn’t say if the kiosks will be making a return.
“The $100 million investment to repair and refresh the iconic Flinders Street Station includes creating more platform space for better passenger flow and comfort,” the statement read.
