Melbourne Salvation Army says it will be forced to shut down its cafe dinner service and street feeding program at the end of September.

Major Brendan Nottle told 3AW Breakfast hosts Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft Lord Mayor Nicholas Reece had promised funding for the program, but that funding had never come.
