Sam Groth’s Boxing Day Test plea
Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sports and Events and former tennis player Sam Groth, has delivered a plea to the state government to keep the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
There has been uncertainty on where the iconic fixture’s future lies, with cities such as Adelaide and Sydney being potential suitors moving forward, but Groth says it can’t be moved and needs to be locked in to a long-term contract “as soon as possible”.
“This is an event that is sacred to Melbourne and is not going anywhere,” Groth told 3AW Breakfast.
