Sam McClure has responded directly to criticism around his commentary on number one draft pick Harley Reid.

McClure has repeatedly questioned why West Coast would opt to take just one pick to the draft, rather than split it for several top selections considering their current make up of their list.

He said he has never had “one issue” with Reid personally, clarifying why he believes the Eagles should’ve traded pick one before the draft.

“(Harley Reid) is going to be the most pressured number one pick since Jack Watts at Melbourne,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“West Coast are either asleep at the wheel with their list or they’re planning something I simply cannot see.

“That is not the list of a team going forward, that is a list of a team going backwards.”
