Sam Mitchell backs Luke Hodge to make the call on his future
Sam Mitchell has backed his veteran teammate Luke Hodge to make the call on his future.
Uncertainty surrounds the future of the Hawks’ 32-year-old captain as the club balances success with regeneration.
While the Hawks would love to keep all its veterans, some tough calls may need to be made as the club looks ahead.
But Mitchell doesn’t think the club will be dictating terms in negotiating Hodge’s future.
‘When you’ve played for such a long time for one club, he’ll have the right to make the call,’ Mitchell said on 3AW Saturday Football.
Mitchell said Hodge will know which is the best call for the club.
The 2008 Premiership captain also defended speedster Brad Hill, whose stats have been subdued this season.
‘He’s our hardest-working player,’ Mitchell said.
‘If there’s a player in the competition that runs faster more often than him, I haven’t seen them.’
