Sam Mitchell ‘should be tagged’: Port veteran Kane Cornes

One of the best taggers the game has seen says West Coast should put a close check on Hawthorn champ Sam Mitchell on Saturday.

Port Adelaide premiership midfielder Kane Cornes told 3AW Breakfast they’d had some ‘good battles over the years’.

‘I think he should (be tagged),’ he said.

‘Teams just let him do whatever he wants, far too often, and he does so much damage.

‘I personally would tag him, but I don’t think they will because they haven’t all year and they’ll back their system in.

‘But you’d want to have a back-up plan for him, if he starts getting hot.’

Cornes, who retired earlier this year, came in with the AFL Premiership Cup to show it off this morning.
