Sam Newman launches passionate defence of Dane Swan following video leak

Sam Newman has launched a passionate defence of his friend Dane Swan, attacking “pathetic” people who look to exploit celebrities for their own personal gain.

The Footy Show veteran says he has “no idea” whether his fellow panel member will appear on tonight’s show.

The Collingwood champion is understood to have lodged a complaint with police over a leaked sex video clip that’s been circulated on social media.

Newman said it was “disgraceful” and “just about the most dishonest thing” a person could do to somebody else.

“He (Swan) has done absolutely nothing wrong,” Newman told Tom Elliott.

“The only person he has to square anything away with, like any of these things, are his closest friends or partner or whatever.

“Other than that, he has done absolutely nothing wrong.”

Newman said the person responsible for leaking the video should feel the full force of the law.

As for whether Swan will appear on television tonight?

“I have no idea, mate,” Newman said.

“I hope he does.”
