Sara Blicavs ‘disappointed’ Liz Cambage publicly shamed Opals teammate Alice Kunek over ‘black face’ costume

Australian basketballer Sara Blicavs admits she’s ‘disappointed’ Liz Cambage publicly shamed Opals teammate Alice Kunek over her controversial ‘Silly Sunday’ costume.

Kunek sparked a media frenzy this week when she posted a photo of herself dressed as Kanye West, with her face painted black.

Cambage posted the picture on Twitter, voicing her ‘disgust’.

While she expects the pair to work things out, Blicavs revealed on 3AW she would have liked Cambage to speak with Kunek privately first.

‘I’m a bit disappointed with her (Cambage) on that one,’ Blicavs said on Sports Today.

‘She does have Alice’s phone number, and now poor Alice has had all this hate come towards her for something she really did not mean to do.’

Blicavs said ‘nobody would have known’ about the issue if Cambage hadn’t tweeted.

Both Kunek and Cambage have since been picked in the Opals’ initial squad for the Rio Olympics.

‘I hope they’ve already caught up for coffee and hugged it out,’ Blicavs said.
