The head of the MCC admits Saturday night’s violence in the CBD may have an impact on whether or not the ‘ring of steel’ returns for the football season.

A review into whether or not a security fence will surround the MCG this season is on the verge of being completed, with MCC chief Stephen Gough telling 3AW Mornings officials were duty-bound to

‘If something goes wrong, you’ll be the first person asking had you considered this, had you considered that,’ Mr Gough said.

‘We have to be prudent, but we also have to recognise that we’re moving a mass number of people into a venue in a very short time.’

Gough also explained why food at the footy would cost more this year.
