Scarecrow Season in Melbourne’s inner-north has kicked off again.

Effigies are emerging in front yards all across the City of Darebin, with a range of different political, comedic or COVID-19 related references.

Rossmoyne Street, Thornbury, is where it all originated.

“It just makes people happy,” Heidi Marfurt, one of the organisers, told Neil Mitchell.

“It brings joy and we need joy more now than ever, don’t we?”
