School issues ‘reminder’ after birthday party sparks COVID-19 outbreak

red hot tip confirmed

A birthday party in breach of COVID-19 restrictions has sparked a coronavirus outbreak in Melbourne’s north west.

It’s prompted one school to issue a reminder to parents about following the rules.

Neil Mitchell was sent a copy of the letter, sent to parents of students at St Columba’s College in Essendon.

“A number of people” at the 16th birthday party have since tested positive to COVID-19.

One of the people infected at the party is now said to be receiving intensive care in hospital.

3AW understands the parent who hosted the party is not a parent of a student at St Columba’s.
