Scott Morrison discusses the budget and early elections with Neil Mitchell

Scott Morrison has dismissed early election speculation, describing it as a symptom of the ‘silly season’.

An election is due in September if the Coalition Government runs a full term.

But there’s speculation that if the positive polls continue for Malcolm Turnbull, he may be tempted to go early.  

The Treasurer has told Neil Mitchell his first priority is working on the May budget.

‘The Prime Minister’s made it pretty clear that he hasn’t had any change of heart about the timing of the election,’ he said.

We’re just getting on with the business of government, that’s what people expect.’
