Control.

You can expect to hear the Turnbull government using that word a lot if Scott Morrison’s interview with Neil Mitchell this morning is any indication.

The new Treasurer said ‘control’ six times within three minutes while responding to questions about the possibility of spending cuts.

‘It’s not about cuts, it’s about control,’ Mr Morrison said.

‘It’s all about controlling the growth in expenditure.

Neil Mitchell: Is ‘control’ the new word for cuts?

Scott Morrison: No, its a real word.

ON THE AGENDA

  • Mr Morrison plays down suggestions he’s planning changes to Sunday penalty rates
  • He says planned wind-back of paid parental leave for so-called ‘double-dippers’ is ‘still very much on the table’.
  • Mr Morrison says he hasn’t spoken to Joe Hockey, but hails him for being a ‘Infrastructure Treasurer’
