Scuffles at Federation Square as Socceroos lose to France

Scuffles have broken out at Federation Square as Australia’s dream of an upset victory in the country’s World Cup opener turned into a nightmare.

Vision on social media shows French and Australian fans involved in minor scuffles at the live viewing site, with France flags snatched, drinks thrown and a crowd pushing, shoving and yelling.

After taking the lead in the opening 10 minutes, Australia conceded four goals to lose 4-1 in Qatar.
