Man charged over crash that killed two children

A man has been charged over a crash that killed two young children at Truganina.

A woman is still fighting for life following the crash on Hopkins Road.

It’s alleged the driver of a Ford Territory was attempting to overtake another car on Hopkins Road in the early hours of Sunday morning, when it collided head-on with the Ford Focus containing the children.

A 10-year-old girl and four-year-old boy lost their lives.

The driver of the Territory, a Rockbank man who remains in hospital, was charged this evening with negligence causing serious injury and two counts of culpable driving.

Police will attend Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening to make a remand application.
