Second time lucky?

Police are confident they’ve got it right this time, as they prepare to begin the rollout of 18,000 new gun holsters.

As exclusively revealed on 3AW, the $1.6 million rollout was brought to an embarrassing halt last year after it was revealed the new holsters too easily disengaged.

The new holsters were recalled and officers have been using the 2014 since.

The update cost about $400,000, cheaper than originally predicted because the 2017 holsters could be retro-fitted to meet requirements, rather than completely junked.

“I’ve got a high level of comfort that this is the best available holster,” Mr Casey said.
