A security expert has given a timeline of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, claiming it could occur “sometime between 2024 and 2027”.

In reaction to growing fears of this invasion, the US Air Force is preparing to base up to six nuclear-capable B-52 bombers in northern Australia in a show of “nuclear deterrence” to China.

Senior Analyst from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, specialising in future warfare and military technology, Malcolm Davis, claims this move by the US Air Force was not unexpected.

“This has been a process that has been underway for some time,” Mr Davis told 3AW Breakfast.
