Senior police officer wants lockout introduced on Sydney Road, Brunswick

There’s a push to impose a 2am lockout on Sydney Road pubs and clubs to prevent alcohol-fuelled violence.

And it’s received support from the Victorian Alcohol Policy Coalition.

A senior Brunswick police officer has called for the lockout on the popular drinking strip.

Mark Zirnsak from the VAPC told Ross and John it was a good idea.

‘The evidence is very strong,’ he said.

‘The earlier you close – the less harm that happens.’
