SES warning after more heavy rainfall in parts of the state
The State Emergency Service is warning wind over the weekend may lead to falling trees after the recent heavy rain events.
Victorian SES duty officer for the metro region, Dimity Lynch, says “there’s potential for some wind … over the next few days”.
“We’ve got some crews and incident management teams on standby for that,” she said.
The Yarra and Watts rivers are at moderate flood levels, with flooding in Yarra Junction, Healesville and Lilydale.
Another 30mm of rain is also expected to fall today.
Mt Evelyn resident, Tony, says the heavy rain has already led to a falling tree on his property.
“About 10 o’clock last night there was an almighty bang,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“A huge gum that was on the nature strip has come across and virtually wiped out my greenhouse.”
