Severe shortage of vaccine sparks fears of potential cat pandemic

There is a critical shortage of a vaccine for cats with experts warning it could cause a “potentially catastrophic” pandemic could sweep through animal shelters.

Director of vet services at the Lost Dogs Home, Dr Jessica Wilde, says the F3 vaccine is used for three diseases.

“The one we’re most concerned about that causes the most potentially fatal disease is called panleukopenia, … it’s a vomiting and diarrhoea virus, which is quite serious, especially for young animals like kittens,” she told Ross and Russel.
