‘You can go on about it all you like, I’m telling you what we said today.’

That’s how Shadow Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Brendan O’Connor justified Bill Shorten’s backflip on the Fair Work Commission’s findings regarding slashing Sunday penalty rates.

Click PLAY to watch what Bill Shorten told Neil Mitchell in April 2016.

We also liked this attempt from Mr O’Connor to validate the change in opinion:

‘He quite rightly said this decision is shocking, it’s not one we envisaged.’ he said.

So, if we back the loser in the Blue Diamond Stakes on Saturday, do we get to tell the bookie it’s not a result we envisaged?

Click PLAY to hear Brendan O’Connor on 3AW Drive.
