Shadow minister slams Allan government over child safety responsibility

Shadow minister for education Jess Wilson slammed the Victorian government for its reliance on the Commonwealth over certain child safety laws.

Wilson highlighted the government’s lack of independent action, highlighting their tendency to “pass the buck ” to the commonwealth for certain legislation.

“New South Wales is implementing CCTV now … so what’s the excuse from the Premier for not doing that in Victoria right away?” she said on 3AW Drive.

This comes following the government’s release of a damning review of the regulation of its childcare sector.
