Shadow treasurer takes Albanese government to task after leaked Treasury advice
Shadow Treasurer and deputy opposition leader, Ted O’Brien, has taken the Albanese government to task after a Treasury report which contained advice for the Labor government after the federal election was accidentally leaked into the public.
The Treasury Department suggested the government needs to raise taxes and cut spending, and Mr O’Brien claimed Australians are paying the price of a spending spree on behalf of federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers.
“They make promises they can’t deliver, they spend money they don’t have, and they hide the truth because they don’t have the solutions to fix the problems,” Mr O’Brien said on 3AW Drive.

“The question is, why wouldn’t Labor just be honest with the Australian people about this?”
“Why does it take a Treasury document, which Labor didn’t want released, to expose something which is pretty obvious?”
“Unfortunately, the Albanese government just isn’t being straight with the Australian people.”
