Shane McInnes calls on FFA to suspend Fernando Brandan for simulation
Shane McInnes has called on the FFA to suspend Fernando Brandan for diving.
The Melbourne City midfielder fell to the floor in apparent agony after Sydney FC’s Rhyan Grant made contact with his face in the top-of-the-table A-League clash.
Although the contact was minimal, Brandan spent a long time on the floor and was attended to by trainers.
Shane said the contact wouldn’t have hurt a toddler, and Brandan’s reaction spoiled what had been an enjoyable game.
‘If the FFA doesn’t like this behaviour, and it’s clear the fans don’t, then take action,’ he said.
‘Suspend him for four weeks. Players will get the message, and the game will be better for it.’
The FFA does have the ability to retrospectively sanction a player for simulation.
