Shane McInnes debates housing advocate over new high-rise building plans
3AW host Shane McInnes has gone back-and-forth with a housing advocate over new high-rise building plans.
The Allan government has locked in the height limits for 25 of its suburban ‘activity centres’, with towers up to 16 storeys slated for Kew Junction and Oakleigh, and 20 storeys high in Brunswick and Coburg.
Lead organiser at YIMBY Melbourne Jonathan O’Brien thinks it’s a great move, but McInnes has questioned it, and how it will impact residents in the areas affected.

“We can’t compare Melbourne to Manhattan by any stretch of the imagination,” McInnes said.
“I think you’re being too down on Melbourne’s transport network,” O’Brien responded.
