Sharrod Wellingham says Don Pyke ‘has the brain’ for an AFL coaching job

West Coast defender Sharrod Wellingham has given a glowing endorsement of Adelaide coaching candidate Don Pyke.?

The Eagles assistant has emerged as a serious contender for the Crows job.

Wellingham told 3AW he was initially unaware Pyke was being courted, but said he could understand why.

‘He’s definitely got the brain for it,’ Wellingham said on Sports Today.

‘He’s a very good coach and reads the game well.

‘He loves his numbers, so he’ll have stats on absolutely everything.

‘I think if he was given a coaching role, he’d grab it with both hands.’
