Shocked cops make $1m discovery in Ashwood backpack
More than $1 million worth of the drug ice has been found during a random intercept in Melbourne’s south-east this morning.
Police were patrolling the Ashwood area about 3am when they approached a man on a BMW motorbike.
But the man ran, police say.
He fled along Power Avenue before throwing a backpack into the front yard of a nearby home.
The bag was retrieved by officers who were shocked to find 5kg of the drug ice inside.
They also seized $3000 cash and found the motorbike, which had been reported as stolen.
A subsequent search through the streets of Ashwood led to the arrest of a Noble park man, aged 26.
He is currently in custody, being interviewed by police.
