Shocking vision of Melbourne CBD tram and car collision comes to light

Fresh vision has come to light of a car colliding with a tram in the Melbourne CBD, highlighting the danger which comes with vehicles sharing the road with trams.

There were 1,073 vehicle to tram accidents last year, with the majority of those coming in the city.

73 per cent of our network isn’t segregated and we share the road with vehicles,” Yarra Trams Chief Operating Officer Paul D’Alessio told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“On average (we see) approximately 20 minor vehicle to tram collisions a week.”
