Shopping centre targeted by brazen thieves at Sydenham

Tom Elliott

A shopping centre in Melbourne’s north-west has been targeted by brazen thieves.

The offenders drove a 4WD through the glass doors of Watervale Shopping Centre on Calder Park Drive in Sydenham early Monday morning, making off with an ATM.

Martin is from the centre, he has seen CCTV footage of the break-in and told 3AW Mornings the four offenders have caused about $30,000 damage, plus the value of the ATM.

They were wearing hoodies and the crime was meticulously planned.

‘We got footage a few weeks ago of them casing them joint,’ he told 3AW’s Tony Jones.

‘They left a trail of destruction.’

This is believed to be the second time in a matter of weeks the centre has been robbed.
