Ambulance Victoria wants to know where all the defibs are.

They say there’s up to 15,000 of the life-saving devices out there in Victoria, but they only know the location of some of them.

So they’re behind a new push to have them all registered so they can launch their app that will link off-duty nurses, doctors and paramedics with defibs in their neighbourhood.

Ambulance Victoria CEO Tony Walker told Neil Mitchell the app is all about improving cardiac arrest outcomes.

“We know of about 2500 defibrillators, where they are, but we estimate there is about 15,000 that are out in the community that are not visible to us or the community who might be responding,” Tony said.
