The sky above Cairns is putting on a show.

3AW listener Macca sent in this photo, but no one seems to know how this unique and striking cloud pattern has occurred.

Duty Forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology Chris Godfred told Tom Elliott they are known as ‘anticrepuscular rays’.

‘What normal people would call ‘sunbeams’,’ he said.
