Sly: How local police shut down Frankston’s Hell’s Angels

Sly of the Underworld has recalled how local police shut down a Hell’s Angels clubroom without using force.

Sly told Ross and John the police did it by thinking laterally.

“Instead of just kicking in doors, they went to VCAT,” he said.

“I would say it’s probably the only time in the world that the local police were able to evict a group such as the Hell’s Angels.”

Sly said police convinced the building owners to evict the group because it would interrupt their insurance.

Sly also paid tribute to former Senior Sergeant Brian McCarthy, who recently passed away.

He told the story of how Mr McCarthy was able to get Julian Knight convicted of the Hoddle Street Massacre by playing to his ego.
