Sly of the Underworld: no-chase policy has led to spike in car theft
Victoria Police’s ‘no-chase’ policy has led to a spike in car thefts.
Sly of the Underworld has told Ross and John that crooks know they won’t be pursued just for being in a stolen car.
‘A large number of offenders now realise they’re not going to be chased,’ Sly said on Wednesday.
‘There’s been a massive spike in car thefts.’
Sly said the safety-first justification for the policy is a ‘no-brainer’, but said there might be a need to find a compromise.
