A former Victoria Police forensic scientist, who was a familiar sight at major crime scenes for 26 years, has died.

John ‘Sly’ Silvester says Sergeant Henry Huggins was “one of the legends of forensic science” in this state.

Sly shared some of the Sergeant Huggins’ most incredible finds, including a shattered vase he painstakingly put back together, which led to a murder conviction.

He also revealed how the late forensic scientist was “before his time” on the Azaria Chamberlain case.
