Sly of the Underworld: Victoria Police will want to be briefed on Cleo Smith case

Crime reporter John ‘Sly’ Silvester says Victoria Police will want to be briefed on the Cleo Smith case, especially given such a significant reward was offered so early in the investigation.

The WA state government announced a $1 million reward for any information on Cleo only six days after she went missing.

Sly told Ross and Russ on 3AW Breakfast such a reward was “unusual”.

“Certainly Victoria Police will be wanting a briefing on this because it was quite unusual to produce a $1 million reward in a missing persons case so early,” he said.

“So, wait-and-see whether or not that resulted in some information.”
