Sly of the Underworld’s message for Tony Mokbel

“Good luck with that Tony.”

That’s Sly Of The Underworld’s message to jailed underworld figure Tony Mokbel as the fallout to the Lawyer X scandal begins.

Mokbel’s conviction has been reported as one in doubt after it was revealed a criminal defence lawyer had been used as an informer.

But Sly told Ross and John that Mokbel only avoided a life sentence because of his guilty plea.

If he attempts to get a re-trial or a discount on his sentence, it could backfire.

“Is he going to roll the dice and risk spending the rest of his life (in prison)?,” Sly said.

“Lawyer X was not actually representing Tony at the time, and the material upon which he was convicted was from phone taps while was overseas, and information from a computer.

“So good luck with that, Tony.”
