Sly: The ‘mystery man’ the AFL should consider to replace Gil McLachlan
With AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan stepping down from the game’s top job at the end of the season, the AFL is hunting for a replacement.
John ‘Sly’ Silvester says there’s a former St Kilda cop who should be considered.
“They should look outside the square and I’ll give them a name … Jeremy Oliver, an Australian who rolled into town and is now a very, very senior powerbroker for the Aston Villa premier side,” he told Jimmy Bartel and Shane McInnes, filling in for Ross and Russel.
“He’s known as the mystery man because he has no social media, no profile.
“This Jeremy Oliver was a policeman out of St Kilda, a very, very good policeman out of St Kilda. He learnt his trade there, which is a hard school.
“All the managers say that Jez has been an inspiration.”
