AAMI Park appears to have issued a ban on bringing balls into the stadium.

Caller Peter told Tom Elliott that after going to an A-League game on Sunday, he was told that a soccer ball his son has brought to the game would have to be cloaked and not allowed in the venue.

He said he wasn’t the only spectator caught unaware at the ground, which also hosts NRL and Super Rugby matches as well as concerts.

“I wasn’t the only one caught off-guard,” he told 3AW Drive.

“I was caught by surprise, some people might say it’s justified but I think (this rule) could be something new.”
