Special envoy to combat anti-Semitism pushes for support to come from more than just government
The Albanese government has been told to strip funding from universities, charities and cultural institutions that fail to combat anti-Semitism by Australia’s ‘Special Envoy to Combat Anti-Semitism’.
Jillian Segal says anti-Semitism needs to be pushed to the margins, and she believes it can be done.
“We’ve had a very successful multi-cultural country, anti-Semitism has been growing, it was started a world before October 7 … but obviously that was a spark that has led to a huge increase, and now we need to work on stamping it out,” she told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Jacqui Felgate.

She also says support for the report and its recommendations will have to come from more than just the Prime Minister and the government.
“It’s not for them to say yes to everything, it’s a plan for society … it will need support for university administrators, it will need support from educators,” she added.
