An investigation has been launched into alleged racial abuse directly at a player last week during a local football game.

Agape Patolo – who plays for Karingal in the MPFNL – was visibly upset after taking the field against Pearcedale last Saturday.

AFL Samoa board member Junior Time says the alleged abuse came from both a fan and opposition player.

“As the game wore on the abuse got worse and worse,” he told Tom Elliott.

“The racial abuse came out and it became really nasty. He is not in a good way to be honest.”

Pearcedale Football Club later released a statement, refusing several of the claims from Time and the context around the incident.
