Spencer street may be partly closed to manage ‘dangerous’ intersection

Melbourne City Council will investigate closing parts of Spencer Street at the ‘dangerous’ Southern Cross Station intersection.

The Spencer and Collins intersection has been identified as one of the most severely overcrowded locations in central Melbourne.

Ross and John spoke with Dave Jones, manager of Roads and Traffic at RACV.

Dave says – ‘It’s a real concern, because there’s no clear alternative route around it.’ 

‘Spencer street isn’t just a short stretch of road in the CBD’.

Mr Jones also mentioned the fact there is no clear pedestrian subway from Flinders street to Federation Square.
